Claiming Unemployment? Watch Out!

The FBI put out a warning this week of spoofed websites offering unemployment benefits that harvest sensitive personal and financial credentials. Threat actors use this information to redirect the payments and to plant malware on the users device, which in turn can lead to ransomware and identity theft!

Protect yourself with these top cyber tips:

  • Use strong and varied passwords! If they get one password from you, don’t give them access to everything.
  • Use Multi-Factor Authentication wherever you can.
  • Learn to spot spam and scams! Phishing emails don’t all have spelling mistakes and poor grammar.
  • Avoid clicking links! Use reputable websites and enter addresses manually.
  • Look for a valid SSL certificate on the site.
